Pastoral
Pondering:
`Joy to the world' much
more than just a song |
Joy to the world; the Lord is come.
What a great song that we often sing this time of year. Let me focus a bit on
the word is.
Yes, the Lord has come. We spend time at Christmas remembering that simple
yet beautiful scene of the newborn babe in a manger.
Yes, the Lord will come. We anticipate his return at the appointed time to
gather his children.
But, lets take time to reflect in the present Christ. This is the Jesus
that is with us by the spirit as we go through our daily lives. This is the Jesus that is
there when we laugh or cry, feel happy or burdened, experience victory or loss.
Let earth receive her King.
Oh, how I wish we would. The world would be a lot better off today if we
truly received this king of kings, the Lord of lords, the prince of peace.
Let every heart prepare him room.
That is what it gets down to. It happens one by one. The condition of our
heart must be of preparedness and openness to Gods filling. Only then can
heaven and nature sing.
As Friends sometimes say, Jesus is come and is coming.
What a joy it is to walk with the Savior and know that journey will take us
from this day to the next, as well as from this life to the next.
Joy to the world; the Lord is come.
